These days, it seems we're rather short staffed. Part of the reason for this is judging staff applicants on whether they are qualified. Many players apply just for the sake of applying and are hardly on in-game. In the past we have also hired staff who would be active for a very short period of time and subsequently went inactive. Other times previous staff members would sound good on the application, but when put into a staff position crack under pressure, or otherwise cannot properly handle the position. Because of these reasons, as well as others, we feel the need to make some changes to the application process.
Applicants will still need to post an application, that part will not change. However, to make it easier on us to choose genuinely good candidates, we have added some additional guidelines for applying for each staff position. Specifically, we are requesting applicants submit documentation of their activity showing they are qualified for the position. This has the advantage of both lightening the load on our staff and allowing applicants to stand out as good candidates.
Support GM
Candidates for Support GM are encouraged to join the support channel, and make @whosupport more usable. Very few people actually use this channel. Most inquiries do not need a GM at all, and are simple questions most players can answer.
As part of the application process, candidates should save support chatlogs and post them in a new topic in Staff Applications to see how often people are actually helping other players. This helps us evaluate your strengths and flaws and give better feedback. Once you feel you've shown a reasonable amount of activity and posted logs, request an interview. Use @join Support to join the support channel.

Helpful tips:
- Use /savechat to save PMs and other chats.
- Turn PM boxes on if you aren't going to switch maps or teleport anytime soon. To turn them on, hit <ESC> to access the Shortcuts menu, then add a hotkey for "Friend Setup" under the 'Window' tab.
- Type properly. If your support looks more professional, you give a favorable impression.
- Use the Kafra option for @join Support so you automatically join the support channel upon logging in.
Forum Moderator
A few people have applied for this, but we have little idea how they would act in the position. At this point, I'm also convinced the forums have grown big enough that it would be a better idea to hire moderators for specific sections, as opposed to continuing to hire global moderators for the entire forums.
Be active on the designated forums, contributing good posts. Specifically, not breaking the rules themselves. There'll be leeway for this if it's an off-topic comment here and there or something, but ideally you should follow the other rules to the letter.
Report posts which are against the rules, clearly stating why it is so (which rule it's breaking).

Event GM
You should be actively reading Event Suggestions and try hosting some as real events. Obviously, if you need help from a staff member, you will need to arrange it with us ahead of time. All events must be announced on the forums with fair notice for everyone to check out.
The staff can help you, but you need to tell them what to do -- it'll be like having the powers yourself, but not actually having access. You need to show how well you can host them on your own, without someone else having to take over, because this is by far the most important part, in my opinion, of being an Event GM. You should also show that you're creative and varied, not dull and repetitive.
Your events need not all be created by you. As mentioned before, if you like an idea from Event Suggestions, feel free to use it - you should give credit where it is due, however. If you would like some staff aid, you can try to reach us over IRC (irc.deltaanime.net #essencero)
Being able to script your own events is always a plus.
Post event report in the designated format describing how the event went.

We've got a near-infinite amount of ideas floating around, and we won't have time to code every idea ourselves, so every little bit of aid is helpful. Look through the Pending Suggestions section especially for ideas we've approved and haven't gotten around to scripting yet. If you think you have a nice piece of code we would want, feel free to post that too. Be sure you submit code with proper error checks and readability.
You may have noticed that the position of Enforcement has not been mentioned here. In the general opinion of the staff, Enforcement should really be something you achieve over time. After a period on staff, if you've shown yourself to be capable you may be granted enforcement abilities. You should still note your intent to become Enforcement in your application, however, so we can know you're interested from the outset.
Players are still more than welcome to join the support channel just to be helpful, regardless if applying for staff. It should also be noted that anyone who tries to abuse this channel to harass/disturb/mislead players will be punished, this is meant for helping the community.
You guys may not realize this, but there are a lot of things you can do to help out without having GM commands. The others that do require them should be left to the staff to handle. Most of the time, you should be able reach one of us via IRC, if not, encourage the person you are helping to post under the proper section of the forums with their issue, such as Special Requests.
Those who choose to contribute to this, I on behalf of the staff give my thanks in advance for helping us out.
If you have logs you wish to submit, please post them as new topics in this section.
